Elizabeth Donnelly, M.S.

I started my academic career at the University of Virginia studying both the German and French languages, not realizing in my youthful naïveté, that the processes and methods behind learning foreign languages would later inform my understanding of the psychology of education. After being a "stay-at-home" mom for 15 years, I returned to graduate school at Georgia State University receiving a Masters of Science degree in Educational Psychology. My decision to become an educational consultant was based on this education and my personal experience searching for the appropriate academic environment for my two adolescent children. I decided that my skills as a compassionate and nurturing person together with my in-depth knowledge of education processes could be beneficial to the profession. I have spent much of my adult life mentoring adolescents both in the community and in my church. Furthermore, I served as a graduate-level researcher studying reading strategies in inner city Atlanta middle schools. My academic interests are in metacognition (thinking about thinking), working memory and reading comprehension. Over the past several years, I have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. to gain first-hand knowledge of traditional and therapeutic boarding schools, schools for children with learning differences, and wilderness therapy and residential treatment programs. My experiences have provided me with the insight into the struggles many families face with the education of their children. As an educational consultant, my goal is to provide my clients the information and support to find the educational setting that best fits each student's academic, social and emotional needs.
